FRESHFARM Markets,
www.freshfarmmarkets.org, is a non-profit organization dedicated to
preserving local foods and small, family farms of the Chesapeake
watershed region.
Designed expressly for low-income
families, we are continuing the Double Dollars Program that was
launched last year at the H Street FRESHFARM Market. We consider
promoting its benefits of greatest urgency.
Eligible residents may double up to
$10 of the face value of EBT/SNAP (food stamps) and both WIC vouchers
and Senior Nutrition Program coupons each time they shop. In
other words, when they spend $10 of their government-sponsored benefits
at the market, they receive $20-worth of delicious, nutritious food
from local farms.
Those wishing to participate in the
Double Dollars Program need only visit the Market Information tent at
the H Street FRESHFARM Market between the hours of 9 AM and 11:30
AM. Staff will be on hand to assist in doubling $10-worth of
benefits as soon as they present their EBT card, WIC vouchers or Senior
Nutrition Program coupons.
