Imperial Russia, Witchcraft and Sorcery in Your Back Yard – today. Hear about demonic possession and witchcraft in Russia and persecution of practitioners in the 1850s., Tuesday, March 7, 7-8 p.m., NE Public Library, 330 7th St NE.

Is it witchcraft or a faith ritual? Learn about the decriminalization (or not) of these practices and see for yourself, how times have changed (or not). Christine Worobec is a historian of 18th and 19th century Russian peasants, women`s issues, and popular piety with an expertise in Early East Slavic, Ukrainian, and Russian witchcraft between 1100 and 1861.

Capitol Hill Village is sponsoring a series, “Village Voices”, for the community to meet and learn from each other in informal, free, public discussions about a range of social, economic and political topics.
