A WELL-READ WOMAN: The Life, Loves, and Legacy of Ruth Rappaport

A book talk with Kate Stewart, Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 7:30 pm at the Northeast Library, 330 7th St. NE.Kate Stewart, a 3rd generation librarian who worked at the Library of Congress, will be speaking about her book A WELL-READ WOMAN: The Life, Loves, and Legacy of Ruth Rappaport, which tells the story of a woman who escaped Nazi Germany as a young girl and ended up spending a lifetime fighting censorship, and ultimately working at the Library of Congress herself.  Marie Claire included it in a feature on ‘7 Biographies About Women Worth an All-Nighter.’

The event is free & open to the public.

Ruth Rappaport was a member of the Capitol Hill Restoration Society; current members are particularly welcome.
