On January 28, 2015, we celebrated our 60th anniversary in the newly renovated parish hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Over 100 members and guests attended, and were treated to music, food, cake, and reminiscences about some of CHRS’s victories in past decades by members who took part. On Tuesday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m., author and attorney Carol McCabe Booker will deliver an Overbeck History Lecture based on the newly republished autobiography of Alice Dunnigan, who overcame both race and gender barriers as the first black woman to break into the national press corps in Washington. Rebecca Sheir, Host of the program “Metro Connection,” on WAMU aired an interview with long-time CHRS member and Hill resident Hazel Kreinheder and CHRS President Lisa Dale Jones on February 6, 2015. That segment is part of a full hour of stories about living on Capitol Hill. Other segments include an appreciation of Steve Cymrot and a look at Reservation 13.
