Saturday, June 28, 10:30 am – 12 pm. This walking lecture, sponsored by the Washington DC chapter  of the American Institute of Architects, will start with a visit to Eastern Market, a DC landmark recently restored after a devastating fire in April 2007, and continue through Capitol Hill, a neighborhood rich with residential row houses and commercial buildings. Participants will learn about contemporary infill architecture and transportation features in this historic district, historically significant civic and commercial buildings, and bustling Barracks Row. The program will end at the Old Naval Hospital, a civil war era landmark building by Ammi B. Young put to new use after restoration combining historic preservation and LEED Silver sustainability measures.
