Plan for Remediation at Washington Gas Site in SE DC

In September 2014, the National Park Service and District of Columbia approved a plan to address contamination in the soil in the area southeast of Water Street, beneath and east of the 11th Street Bridge.

1229 E Street SE – “Shotgun House”

We believe that the owner of the shotgun house at 1229 E Street, SE  has engaged in demolition by neglect by failing to maintain the building, and as a result, has blighted the surrounding neighborhood for a number of years.  (more…)

Update on 1229 E Street, SE (the shotgun house)

In July 2014 DCRA and HPO inspected the building at 1229 E Street, SE and determined that the building is still salvageable.  On September 18, 2014,  the HPRB voted to deny the property owner’s request to raze the shotgun house.    DCRA is seeking bids from contractors to stabilize the building.
