On November 21, 2013 DDOT unveiled further plans for a Southeast Boulevard along the Anacostia from 11th Street to Barney Circle. It is a two-lane road that would accommodate bikers, hikers and cars. In a comment letter, CHRS questions the need for a road, notes adverse effects on the neighborhood, and calls on DDOT to hold a comprehensive study along the entire Capitol Hill waterfront.

The National Capital Planning Commission and the DC Office of Planning sent separate recommendations regarding the Height Act to Congress on November 20, 2013. NCPC listened to CHRS, 30+ other organizations and numerous residents and recommended retaining height limits; OP recommended relaxing them. Representative Darryl Issa has scheduled a Congressional hearing for December 2, 2013. (more…)
