On January 11, 2018, CHRS testified before the Council against DDOT’s (and EventsDC’s) proposed “Park Drive” on the west bank of the Anacostia River. The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail runs 20 miles along the river, passing near Barney Circle and RFK Stadium. It’s an amazing resource. But DDOT proposes to build a “Park Drive” for vehicles, paralleling the Riverwalk Trail.

On November 21, 2013 DDOT unveiled further plans for a Southeast Boulevard along the Anacostia from 11th Street to Barney Circle. It is a two-lane road that would accommodate bikers, hikers and cars. In a comment letter, CHRS questions the need for a road, notes adverse effects on the neighborhood, and calls on DDOT to hold a comprehensive study along the entire Capitol Hill waterfront.
CHRS has submitted comments to the DC Department of Transportation Concerning this study.
