Sadly, an in-person parade was not possible this year. But our good neighbors, Naval Lodge No. 4 and the Jeanne, Phil Meg Team at Compass Realty, weren’t about to let lapse one of our cherished community traditions – the Capitol Hill 4th of July Parade. They solicited and assembled video clips from the organizations that participate annually, to create this virtual parade. The CHRS contingent appears at 1:30. Many thanks to the event organizers!

Mary Jane Schmidt has created a new website, The Women Who Shaped DC, which includes a 1.4-mile walking tour of historical sites on the Hill: Temporarily off-line. 

Nancy Metzger and I (Judith Capen) gave a Preservation Café talk a number of years ago titled Reversing Remuddlings. Nancy referenced the house she and her husband, Norman Metzger, bought in 1996 at 638 E Street, SE.

Although the 2020 House & Garden Tour must be postponed due to Covid-19, we are honoring this tradition with a Photo Scavenger Hunt.

Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital originally planned to host their annual volunteer “Expo” Saturday, May 2, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Hill Center, 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE.
