DDOT issued Departmental Order No. 1-2014, April 30, 2014 in response to concerns raised by CHRS and others specifically about Reservation 266, but the Policy applies to all pocket parks under DDOT control. In accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement, the final Construction Protection Plan and the official D.C. State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) Concurrence Letter have been made available on the Virginia Avenue Tunnel website.
The Marine Barracks Washington proposal to replace their barracks building (BEQ) at 8th and I Streets, SE with a new BEQ is now in the Environmental Impact stage and a draft EIS has been issued. On February 2, 2015, the Committee of 100 filed a reply in support of its application for a preliminary injunction against the CSX tunnel project. This detailed legal document spells out the reasons the project should not go forward at this time. A hearing on the Motion for a Preliminary Injunction will be held on February 17, at the US Courthouse, 333 Constitution Ave. N.W., Judge Christopher R. Cooper courtroom.
